ASME B16.5 Flange Standard — Pressure-Temperature Ratings

ASME B16.5 covers pipe flanges and flanged fittings from NPS ½ to NPS 24, in pressure classes 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500 and 2500. Super Duplex UNS S32750 (F53) flanges to B16.5 are used in high-integrity piping systems for offshore platforms, petrochemical plants and subsea equipment where sour service and chloride resistance are required alongside dimensional interchangeability with carbon steel flanges.

Ragnar Metals manufactures ASME B16.5 flanges to weld neck (WN), slip-on (SO), blind (BL), socket weld (SW), lap joint (LJ) and threaded (TH) facing types. Raised face (RF), ring type joint (RTJ) and flat face (FF) facings are all available. RTJ grooves are machined to ASME B16.20.

All flanges are supplied with EN 10204 Type 3.1 mill test certificates covering heat analysis, mechanical properties (tensile, yield, elongation, impact at −46°C), hardness and hydrostatic test records. PREN (pitting resistance equivalent) ≥ 40 is verified for super duplex grades.

ASME B16.5 Duplex Flange Pressure-Temperature Ratings

ASME B16.5 covers pipe flanges and flanged fittings in NPS 1/2 to NPS 24. For duplex stainless steel (Group 2.3 under B16.5), flanges are rated across seven pressure classes: 150, 300, 400, 600, 900, 1500, and 2500. The B16.5 standard fully defines facing types (raised face RF, ring-type joint RTJ, full face FF), bore dimensions, bolt circle diameters, and gasket seating requirements.
