Duplex and super duplex stainless steel spools fabricated to ASME B31.1 are typically used in chemical injection systems, seawater cooling circuits, and condensate systems on thermal and nuclear power plants. B31.1 spool fabrication requires full penetration welds with backing rings or back-purge argon shielding for stainless steel, WPS/PQR qualified per ASME Section IX, and a final hydrostatic test at 1.5× design pressure. Dimensional control per ASME B16.9 (butt weld fittings) and B16.5 (flanges). Weld maps, isometrics, and NDE records supplied with each spool.
