ASTM A815 / ASME SA-815 Wrought Duplex Stainless Steel Fittings and Spools

ASTM A815 (ASME SA-815) covers wrought duplex and super duplex stainless steel butt-welding fittings (elbows, tees, reducers, caps). Material grades WP-S31803 (duplex 2205) and WP-S32750 (super duplex 2507) are the most specified for offshore and subsea piping spools where dimensional tolerances per ASME B16.9 must combine with the high mechanical properties of duplex steel. A815 fittings are manufactured by hot forming or cold forming from A790 pipe or A240 plate, then solution annealed and tested.

ASTM A815 (ASME SA815) covers wrought duplex and super duplex stainless steel piping fittings — elbows, tees, reducers, caps, and stub ends. Grade designations follow a WP (wrought pipe) naming convention: WP31803-W (welded), WP31803-S (seamless), WPR31803 (radiographed). All A815 fittings must meet ASME B16.9 for butt-weld fittings (NPS 1/2 to 48) or ASME B16.11 for socket-weld and threaded fittings (NPS 1/8 to 4). Hardness testing (maximum HRC 32), chemical composition verification (PMI), and ferrite number measurement (FN 35–65%) are mandatory per A815.
