Duplex 2205 Flange — UNS S31803 / S32205 Technical Data

Duplex 2205 (UNS S31803 revised to S32205) is the most widely used duplex stainless steel grade, comprising approximately 22% Cr, 5% Ni, 3% Mo and 0.17% N. The dual austenite-ferrite microstructure delivers tensile strength of 620–655 MPa minimum — twice that of 316L — while PREN ≥ 35 provides strong resistance to pitting in seawater and acid chloride solutions. Critical pitting temperature (CPT) of duplex 2205 is approximately 35°C in 1M NaCl, compared to 15°C for 316L.

Super Duplex 2507 (S32750) with PREN 42 handles up to 35,000 ppm chloride (seawater) at temperatures to 220°C. For H2S sour service, both grades comply with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 when hardness is maintained below HRC 28 (max HRC 32 per ASTM A890).
