EN 10216-5 Seamless Duplex/Super Duplex Stainless Steel Pipe — European Standard

EN 10216-5 Seamless covers stainless steel tubes for pressure purposes. For duplex and super duplex grades, the relevant material grades are 1.4462 (X2CrNiMoN22-5-3, equivalent UNS S31803/S32205) and 1.4410 (X2CrNiMoN25-7-4, equivalent UNS S32750). EN 10216-5/10217-7 pipe is required for CE-marked pressure equipment in the European Union under the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU) and is widely specified for North Sea and Mediterranean offshore projects.

Supplied with EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate (Abnahmeprüfzeugnis). Test categories available: T1 (tensile), T2 (impact), T5 (hydrostatic), T6 (eddy current / UT). Duplex & Super Duplex Steel Grade Selection Guide

Selecting the correct duplex grade depends on the chloride concentration, temperature, H2S partial pressure, and design pressure of your application. Duplex 2205 (S31803/S32205) offers a PREN of 34–35 and handles chloride concentrations up to 1,000 ppm at temperatures up to 150°C. Super Duplex 2507 (S32750) with PREN 42 handles up to 35,000 ppm chloride (seawater) at temperatures to 220°C. For H2S sour service, both grades comply with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 when hardness is maintained below HRC 28 (max HRC 32 per ASTM A890).
